Detective Inspector Natalie Charlesworth said: “We are still in the early stages of the investigation into what led to a violent attack on a young boy near Sefton Park.
“I would appeal to any witnesses who were at Croxteth Drive last night and saw what happened to come forward as soon as possible. “We are determined to do all we can to find those responsible.
“Similarly, if you work or live in the area and have any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from 8pm please contact us as this can provide vital evidence.”
