He added in the complaint: “People [texted] “They said they would leave with him at the end of the season.”

According to ESPN, police found $400 in the jacket during a search of his home. Citing the search warrant, ESPN said the search, which included examining Holloway’s trash, occurred after police received “complaints.”

But Holloway’s attorney told ESPN that the search was unconstitutional and that he would fight to ensure that prosecutors cannot use what they found in legal proceedings.

Holloway, 21, was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp. He was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail at 9:48 a.m. Monday morning and later released at 10:45 a.m. Bail was set at $5,000.

Holloway was a key part of Alabama’s success this season, averaging 16.8 points per game as the team’s second-leading scorer. In his last game, a loss to Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals, he gave up 18 points in an 80-79 loss.

No. 4 Alabama moved into the second round of March Madness without one of its best players after defeating No. 13 Hofstra on Friday. They will face No. 4 Texas Tech on Sunday for a spot in the Sweet 16.

Holloway is in his third season with the Crimson Tide, returning to the starting role he played as a freshman for the 2023-24 season.
