‘Bachelorette’ alum James McCoy Taylor arrested in connection to assault case

“The Bachelorette” alum James McCoy Taylor was arrested Friday in connection with the 2024 assault case to which he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to prison last year.

On Friday, Taylor, who competed on JoJo Fletcher’s 2016 season of “The Bachelorette,” was arrested at the Brazos County Sheriff’s Department and released the same day on $10,000 bail, according to online records viewed by Fox News Digital.

Fox News Digital confirmed that in August 2024, College Station Police Department officers arrested Taylor at a bar in the Northgate Entertainment District of College Station, Texas, on a warrant issued by the Bryan Police Department.

The Bryan Police Department charged Taylor on April 24, 2024, with assault causing bodily injury and unlawful restraint. The accusations involved a 19-year-old college student who accused Taylor of physically assaulting her and preventing her from leaving her home. But Taylor was not booked until Aug. 4, according to Brazos County jail records.

Last April, Taylor pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced to 18 months probation along with 80 hours of community service, a $750 fine and $350 in court fees. He was also ordered to take anger management classes, have no contact with the victim and stay away from the Northgate Entertainment District.

According to court records, Taylor’s latest arrest occurred after the court issued an arrest warrant on Feb. 17 after revoking his parole and failing to pay full court-ordered fines.

Taylor still owes $300 after paying the $1,184 fine, according to court records. He made a payment of $80 shortly before his last arrest.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Taylor for comment.

Shortly after his arrest in August 2024, Taylor addressed the incident in a statement. people magazine and denied any wrongdoing.

He told the press that after the incident “there wasn’t a single scratch on me (which I found to be an odd situation to say the least, as I showed the police with photos of my entire body).”

“I’m a pretty big guy, but I was trying to ‘illegally restrain’ a girl and she… ran away?… and walked to her Uber right in front of my house? Without ANY injuries?” Taylor continued. “Trust me, if there was ANY injury it would be all over the internet.”

“To the people reading this: If you want fame, it never ends like this. If you want money, it never ends like this. If you want to ruin my life, it always ends like this… keep it up,” he added. “I will never hurt anyone. I am good to EVERY person I meet.”

“I don’t know your daughter’s name because we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together, but I think if she could go back, she wouldn’t want all of this to come to this either. And I don’t hate you either. I wish I knew where you came from and where this came from,” he concluded.

Taylor previously faced legal trouble in September 2022 after the Texas musician was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Taylor was also charged with illegal weapons possession. According to an arrest warrant obtained by KBTX, an officer noticed Taylor urinating in the parking lot and determined that the reality TV star was visibly intoxicated.

The officer advised Taylor not to drive, but a short time later he saw him in the truck driving through a parking lot.

According to police, Taylor was accompanied by an 18-year-old boy in the truck who was also disabled. The arrest warrant stated that the college freshman “was not in a position to evaluate the benefits and risks of his situation.”

While searching Taylor’s vehicle, authorities found a handgun hidden near the door. In Texas, it is illegal to carry a gun while committing a crime, including driving while intoxicated.

Taylor was found guilty of the charges and sentenced to five days in jail. He was also fined $500 and ordered to pay $585 in court costs, according to KBTX.

During his stint on season 12 of “The Bachelorette,” Fletcher sent Taylor home in week seven.

Rodgers and Fletcher married in May 2022 after a six-year engagement.

According to posts on his official Instagram page, Taylor is married to McKenzie Linden, with whom he shares a daughter. He is also the stepfather of Linden’s four daughters from a previous relationship.
