Chappell Roan sparked outrage from a Brazilian official on Saturday after an alleged strange fan interaction.

According to professional soccer star Jorginho Frello, the “Pink Pony Club” singer allegedly directed security to scold his daughter, who spotted Chappell eating breakfast at a São Paulo hotel while she was in town to perform at Lollapalooza Brazil.

Chappell, 28, described the incident on his Instagram stories on Sunday and later denied the fan encounter after the “very sad” situation came to the attention of Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere.

In a statement shared on X, Cavaliere said Chappell was no longer welcome to perform in his city.

“I’m sorry for the mother and the child that someone would assume that you would do something, think that you would do something, and if you are uncomfortable, that makes me very sad. You didn’t deserve that.”

“Coincidentally, they were staying at the same hotel as this artist. During breakfast, the artist passed by their table. My daughter, like any child, recognized him, got excited and wanted to confirm that it was really him.

“The worst part was, he didn’t even approach her. He walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled and sat back down next to his mother. He didn’t say anything, he didn’t ask for anything.”

After passing by her daughter, she said, “While they were having breakfast, a large security guard came to their table and began speaking to both my wife and daughter in an extremely aggressive manner, telling me that my daughter should not be allowed to ‘disrespect’ or ‘harass’ others.”

“To be honest, I don’t know at what point just walking past a table and looking to see if there’s anyone there can be considered harassment,” Jorginho said. Jorginho stated that there was a security guard before and that he even said that he would complain to the hotel about them while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears.

“It’s sad to see this kind of treatment coming from people who should understand the importance of fans,” he wrote. “At the end of the day, they’re the ones who built all of this. I sincerely hope this is a moment of reflection. No one should have to go through this, especially a child.”
