Rideshare driver charged after baby killed in Perth crash

The 35-year-old rideshare driver from Caversham has been charged with one count of dangerous driving resulting in death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, police announced on Sunday.
He will appear before Armadale Magistrates’ Court on April 20.
Police called on the public to help gather information about the accident.
“Officers from the Major Accident Investigation Section are seeking the public’s assistance with information,” police said in a statement on Sunday.
“Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the silver Toyota Kluger driving around the area prior to the crash to contact Crime Stoppers.”

An eyewitness described the incident as “horrific” and said the female passenger ran to neighbors for help.

The witness said residents managed to successfully perform CPR on the baby before he died later in the hospital.
