The Philadelphia Eagles lost in the Wild Card round a year after winning the Super Bowl last season, especially because the offensive production wasn’t up to par.

Former Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, who announced his departure from the organization in February, said it wasn’t hard to see where things went wrong.

“I always think when things aren’t going well, and I don’t want to sound like I’m in an interview, but that’s the truth. It’s practice, calling the right play at the right time and not putting bad plays on bad defenses,” Stoutland said on a recent appearance. “New Hills.”

“I mean, it’s not that hard. I’m not going to sit here and make all this up… that’s it.”

Eagles brass apparently agreed with Stoutland’s assessment of the team’s play calling and execution, as they fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. They hired former NFL quarterback Sean Mannion instead.

During the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning season, they scored 29 points per game (fourth in the NFL), averaged 366 yards per game (eighth in the NFL) and rushed for 184.1 yards per game (second in the NFL).

Last season was a very different story; They scored 22.1 points per game (19th in the NFL), averaged 311 yards per game (24th in the NFL), and rushed for 118.2 yards per game (16th in the NFL).

The Eagles managed to win the NFC East by a score of 11-6, but lost to the San Francisco 49ers 23-19 in the NFC Wild Card round. The story throughout the season was the team’s lack of offensive production and their playoff loss punctuated their regular season struggles.

Patullo may not be the only player on offense, as star wide receiver AJ Brown has found himself in trade rumors all season long.

Adding to the speculation, the Eagles used their first-round draft pick on wide receiver Makai Lemon, as well as traded wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks to the Green Bay Packers. The additions of Wicks and Lemon led fans to believe the Eagles were preparing their wide receiver room to be without Brown.

Whoever suits up for the Eagles at wide receiver, they hope their play-calling and execution skills will be much better in 2026.
