Stalin calls DMK manifesto a “game-changer” for Tamil Nadu

He said the monetary support announced in the poll manifesto was a “smart economic multiplier” that would boost the local economy, support small businesses, reskill people and improve long-term outcomes.
“Development and prosperity prove that by working together, you can build infrastructure, grow the economy and lift people up at the same time. From one-size-fits-all solutions to electoral governance,” the Tamil Nadu chief minister said, adding “people decide what works for them.”

In a post on ‘X’, he said the manifesto focuses on creating wealth, increasing productivity, generating economic activity and delivering measurable long-term returns.
“This is a document for the next phase. It builds on what has already been delivered and scales it up with smarter design, deeper impact and broader reach,” Stalin said.
He said the six steps towards progress outlined in the manifesto include development for women, family, youth, farmers, housing and infrastructure and governance. He underlined the DMK poll promises to increase the monthly grant under ‘Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai’ (women’s right) from the current Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 and provide voucher value by expanding the Prime Minister’s Breakfast Scheme up to 8th Standard by adding new eligible women every year. Rs 8,000 under the ‘Illatharasi’ (housewife) scheme to purchase/replace new home electronic appliances for their family, increase medical treatment cover to Rs 10 lakh and increase pension amount to Rs 2,000 per month for senior citizens, widows and spinsters above 50 years of age.

Skill training for 5 lakh youth who have completed higher education, bringing in foreign investment of Rs 18 lakh crore and creating 50 lakh jobs in 5 years, increasing the monthly higher education grant for college students from the current Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500, providing 35 lakh free laptops to all college students, providing free modern electric pump sets with free electricity to over 20 lakh farmers and providing 10 lakh new concrete houses under ‘Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam’ and Various other housing schemes for a cottage-free Tamil Nadu by 2030 were among other assurances.
On governance, he said the people’s registered wishes under the ‘Unga Kanava Sollunga’ (Tell us your dreams) initiative would be fulfilled on priority.
