Luxury cars destroyed after Tesla showroom in Sydney’s west set ablaze in suspected arson attack

A luxury car dealership in Sydney’s west was set on fire and three electric cars were destroyed with petrol in a suspected arson attack.
Police, who house the flashy and luxurious Teslas on Church St in Parramatta, attended the showroom just after 3.20am on Tuesday after reports of several cars on fire.
Three Teslas and the surrounding showroom were significantly destroyed, with bodies melting, engines smashed, and the interiors of three Model Y cars burned.
About 45 firefighters rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire and clear the smoke and remained there until 4.45am.
“We had a pretty heavy attack on this fire,” Fire Rescue NSW spokesman Aaron Ross told 9 News.
“It extended into the ceiling space, but we were able to quickly contain the fire to the initial area.”
No injuries were reported and police quickly ruled out that the flames were caused by a battery explosion.

Ongoing investigations revealed that the fire was an arson attack after canisters were found near Tesla’s charred remains.
“Just looking at it, it’s pretty clear that these fires started in the front end of some of these vehicles,” Mr. Ross said.
Investigations are ongoing, with police scanning nearby security cameras.
