Animals react to plant noises

Animals respond to sounds made by plants.

In Landmark research, Tel Aviv University experts discovered that women’s moths avoided leaving eggs on tomato plants if they made sounds associated with distress, and that they may be unhealthy.

Sounds outside the human hearing range, but can only be taken as insects, bats and some mammals.

“This is the first show of an animal that responds to sounds produced by a plant.

“This is speculation at this stage, but it will make decisions based on the sounds they hear from all kinds of animal plants, such as dusting or hiding or eating the plant.”

Scientists will now investigate the sounds of different plants and whether other species react to them.

“You may think that there may be a very complex interaction, and this is the first step.”
