Senior Adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Injured in US-Israeli Strike

Teheran: According to CNN’s news, based on the country’s semi-official Mehr News Agency, Kamal Kharazi, a senior advisor to Iran’s religious leader, was injured during the US-Israeli attack on the Iranian capital.

“Dr. Kamal Kharazi was injured in today’s bombing of houses in Tehran by the American-Zionist enemy,” Mehr said in his report on Wednesday. he said.

The senior diplomat, who previously served as foreign minister from 1997 to 2005 during the presidency of reformist former president Mohammad Khatami, was reportedly targeted in this latest military operation.

Kharazi’s house in Tehran was targeted in the US-Israeli attack early on Wednesday, The Times of Israel reported, citing Shargh, Etemad and Ham Mihan newspapers. While the semi-official Mehr News Agency confirmed that Kharazi was injured following the attack on the settlements, it did not provide detailed information about the extent of the senior official’s condition.

The injury occurred as the West Asian conflict continued after US and Israeli attacks began on February 28. The ongoing war has witnessed a significant escalation in regional hostilities, with Iran retaliating through drone and missile attacks on Israel and various Gulf states hosting American military assets.

Kharazi, who remains a senior adviser to the Iranian government, previously gave an exclusive interview to CNN in Tehran in early March. This dialogue was held with the official permission of the Iranian government, as required by local regulations.

During this discussion, Kharazi told CNN that he believed Iran had the capability to continue the conflict for a long time, and also stated that he saw no room for diplomacy. The incident dovetails with a report by the semi-official Fars News Agency on Tuesday that said Iran had threatened to attack American technology companies if other Iranian leaders were also targeted and killed.
