The New York Times raised eyebrows on Friday over a misprinted headline on an article about the future of NATO.

President Donald Trump has had harsh words for NATO countries in recent weeks as the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran, ending threats to withdraw from the decades-old alliance due to inaction by European partners.

But NATO, which stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, took on a different meaning in the Times’ print edition.

“A North American Treaty Organization without America?” the title read.

The glaring misprint went viral among members of the media.

U.S. News & World Report reporter Oliver Knox reacted with “ohh nooooo.”

“Oh my God,” exclaimed Washington Post columnist and Fox News contributor Mark Thiessen.

“This is disgraceful on an editorial level,” said National Review writer Jeff Blehar.

“I’ll just say this: It feels [very] relatable,” Atlantic staff writer Ashley Parker wrote.

A spokesperson for The New York Times told Fox News Digital that a correction will appear in Saturday’s print edition of the newspaper.

“Friday’s headline on an article about President Trump’s threats to leave NATO misstated the full name of the organization. This is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, not the North American Treaty Organization,” the correction read. The statement is included.
