Thieves rifle through unaware pubgoers’ bags while they stood nearby | News

A pair of thieves were caught on CCTV going through bargoers’ bags for seven minutes while their victims “stood nearby drinking”.

Footage shared by City of London police shows Majazy Latif, 28, and Youcef Aliouat, 32, going through people’s belongings while sitting in a bar on Cannon Street on August 14, 2025.

The pair placed a chair in front of the piles of bags and looked through the bags in an attempt to “mask their criminal intent”. During the theft, the couple was seen taking a laptop out of a bag and placing it in a different bag held by Latif.

Latif was sentenced to 23 months in prison after pleading guilty to nine counts of theft between 6 August 2025 and 25 September 2025. Aliouat was sentenced to 18 months in prison for stealing nine laptops between August 14, 2025 and October 6, 2025.
