New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart will enter his first season as the team’s starter with a completely different coaching staff guiding his decision-making.
Giants head coach John Harbaugh has revitalized his coaching staff heading into the 2026 season, including bringing on Matt Nagy as the team’s offensive coordinator. Nagy, who was once the head coach of the Chicago Bears, served as the offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs for the last three seasons.

Nagy worked directly with Patrick Mahomes as the team won the Super Bowl in 2023 and nearly completed a three-peat in the 2024 season. He spoke to reporters on Tuesday and revealed his advice for Dart as the former Ole Miss standout enters his second NFL season.
“What I would say in my conversation with Jaxson is exactly what you said. I think that’s a great point. He’s Jaxson Dart. He’s not Patrick Mahomes,” Nagy said when asked to offer some lessons about working with the Chiefs’ quarterback. “I was lucky enough to be around Patrick over the years and I got to see Patrick as a rookie and when I came back from Chicago four years later I got to see him. I got to see him for four more years as a vet.

“But we can use it for more like routines and maybe how we do things, but the one thing I know, first of all, I know how much Jaxson respects Patrick. We talked a little bit about the process and what he’s going through, but we also made it clear, you have to be Jaxson Dart. He’s going to do it.”
“It’s our job to surround him and isolate him, give him direction, but he needs to be able to tell us how he likes it, why he likes it, etc. We’re going to be really intentional about how we do that. Look at Brian Callahan. He’s been around a lot of great quarterbacks, too, and he’s been in the same room with them right now. He’s seen Peyton Manning, he’s seen Matthew Stafford, he’s seen Joe Burrow. That’s valuable. That’s really valuable.”
