Telangana Government, SCR Actively Considering Providing Free Travel On MMTS

Following reports that South Central Railway has rejected the Telangana government’s announcement regarding free travel on MMTS Services, the Telangana government and SCR have issued a statement that they are actively considering the offer.
Telangana government’s FactCheck wing made a statement about X. He said:
Some social media accounts are deliberately spreading misleading and false information about the proposal, which is being seriously studied.
Hyderabad Metropolitan Area (HMA) and Urban Development Department and Sports Department, Government of Telangana have formally submitted a proposal to South Central Railway for implementation of free ride scheme for all categories of passengers using MMTS services.

➤ In response, South Central Railway stated:
• “A draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the terms of implementation may be submitted.”
• “MMTS services are currently operated based on passenger demand and subject to operational restrictions.”
• The proposal will be further processed and forwarded to the Railway Board for approval
➤ At this stage, no final decision has been taken and the issue is in the legal process stage.
