In the virtual meeting attended by over 30,000 party workers from across the state, Abhishek instructed them to explain the benefits of welfare schemes and all other development work done by the Trinamool government to the people at the heart of the matter. “We were told to go to homes of even BJP, CPI-M and Congress workers and raise the pitch of the campaign,” a Trinamool leader told ET.
Banerjee sought to reassure party workers that Trinamool’s electoral prospects are bright and the party will return to power with a stronger mandate. It also inspired workers to work harder and perform better than previous surveys. People in the know said party workers have been warned about EVMs, to remain vigilant during mock polls and seek EVM replacement if they detect any problems.
Banerjee asked party workers to report any alleged intimidation by central forces, activate party control rooms from early morning on polling day and remain alert on polling day and prevent any irregularities.
Campaigning in Bengal has reached an exciting point with both the Trinamool and the BJP stepping up their efforts across the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, central ministers and chief ministers of various BJP-ruled states are heading towards Bengal and holding election rallies.
