Met Office names exact date UK will be hotter than Greece in April scorcher – new forecast | Weather | News

The UK is expected to be warmer than Athens, with the Met Office forecasting warm temperatures next week. There is an increasing chance of high pressure developing over the weekend, leading to dry weather becoming more prevalent in many parts of the country.

According to the Met Office’s latest 10-day trend, the “April showers” of recent days will be replaced by a high-pressure building ridge expected to last “until next week”. Although daily highs depend on the amount of sunshine, temperatures in the east and south of England can be moderate to high.

During particularly sunny spells, some areas could head towards 18C or 19C, potentially ahead of temperatures forecast for the Greek capital.

Official channels state that there is a “warming trend” both during the day and at night.

In a recent blog post, the Met Office noted: “From the weekend into next week, confidence is growing in a more settled period… Many parts of the UK should see improving conditions rather than persistent rainfall.”

While the north and west may remain near seasonal averages, incoming high pressure is pulling a lighter air mass from the south and west.

Forecasters emphasize that this will not be a “mini heatwave”, but that the strength of the April sun will make it feel “pleasantly warm” in sheltered spots and mark a significant change from the unstable Atlantic low pressure systems that dominated the previous week.
