‘Tata Bye Bye’ to Didi by 1 PM on May 4

Kolkata: Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday predicted that Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will be removed as West Bengal chief minister by 1 pm on May 4, the date on which votes will be counted in the Assembly Elections.

Addressing the BJP’s poll campaign rally in Dum Dum, Mr. Shah also accused the TMC of turning Kolkata into a “city of slums” and turning them into its vote bank by offering shelter to infiltrators. He promised to bring back its lost glory.

Referring to Ms. Banerjee’s fate, he said, “On May 4, the counting of votes will start in the morning. The ballot boxes will open at 8 am. The first round will be held at 9 am. The second round will end at 10 am. The counting will end at 1 am and Didi will say ‘Tata, Goodbye’.”

Regarding the current situation of Kolkata, Mr. Shah claimed: “Due to long-term misrule by the TMC and the Communists, it has become a slum city. There are many cities in the country that are free of slums. But Didi is not thinking about this.”

“He wants to provide shelter to infiltrators and convert them into his vote bank. So he has no intention of improving people’s lives,” he alleged, before targeting Congress’ son Rahul Gandhi for his party’s performance in the current polls in four states.

“I want to tell Rahul Baba that the Congress will not be able to cross double digits in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. It will face its biggest defeat in Assam, but it can open accounts in Bengal after losing its deposits,” said the key strategist of the BJP.

He also condemned Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘terrorist’. Mr. Shah later campaigned in three more places, including North 24 Parganas and Hooghly, and held a promotional tour in Sonarpur South in the evening.

The union home minister, who asked the BJP leaders at the meeting to ensure a margin of victory of 20,000 votes for the party candidates in these polls, will camp here till April 27.
