Phase 1 Voting in 152 Seats Begins

Today is a very important day in West Bengal; Voting begins in 152 electoral districts. While Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress is aiming for re-election, the Opposition BJP is trying to unseat the ruling party.
Mock voting was held at Siliguri Girls’ High School in Siliguri on Thursday morning to ensure everything was working properly.
There will be two phases of voting in the 2026 Assembly elections in the state and the second phase is scheduled to be held on April 29. The counting of votes is planned to be held on May 4.
West Bengal will witness a high-voltage contest between the incumbent Trinamool Congress for the fourth consecutive term and the BJP, which aims to form the government after a strong performance in the previous elections. While Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee is aiming for a fourth consecutive term, the BJP, which won 77 seats in the previous election, is making a new move to form the government in the state.
