May, June and July bank holidays – full list | UK | News

The remaining bank holidays the UK will observe this year have been confirmed by the Government.

While different UK countries often have different bank holiday dates, some remain the same.

For example, the last Easter weekend saw two bank holidays for England, Wales and Northern Ireland: Good Friday, 3 April, and Easter Monday, 6 April. However, Scotland does not have a bank holiday for Easter Monday.

However, two May bank holidays (the early May bank holiday and the Spring bank holiday on 4 May and 25 May respectively) will be recognized in all four parts of the UK.

For England and Wales, the May bank holidays will be the last until August. However, in other parts of the UK there are additional dates to wait before the eighth month of the year.

Scotland will have a one-off bank holiday in June to celebrate their team qualifying for the World Cup.

Buckingham Palace said in February: “To celebrate the success of the Scotland men’s football team competing in the Fifa World Cup for the first time in 28 years, we would like to see Monday, the fifteenth day of June 2026, become a public holiday in Scotland.

“Therefore, in accordance with section 1(3) of the Banking and Financial Transactions Act 1971, we designate Monday, the fifteenth day of June 2026, as a public holiday in Scotland.”

In Northern Ireland, the Battle of the Boyne is celebrated as a public holiday on Monday, July 13.

The following bank holidays fall on Monday 3 August, when Scotland celebrates the Summer bank holiday, while the rest of the UK (i.e. England, Wales and Northern Ireland) will observe the Summer bank holiday on Monday 25 August.
