“Deeply concerning” says UK Parliament report on AUKUS progress

The UK House of Commons Defense Committee report has recently been published, indicating that successful AUKUS delivery is unlikely. What is fraud?

The scam is that the Australian Government insists on spending hundreds of billions of dollars on a floundering submarine building program while cutting billions of dollars from the NDIS.

65 pages report – a year in the making – found that the delivery of SSN-AUKUS would be a long and complex undertaking requiring a sustained financial commitment from the UK government over several election cycles. The report included the following statements: “The fact that there are signs of this is deeply worrying.”

The investment pipeline supporting this commitment has already been disrupted.

The report comes as Britain has only launched one of its nuclear attack submarines and the Royal Navy is in such a moribund state that it is struggling to find surface ship assets to protect its own interests in the Eastern Mediterranean and Persian Gulf.

The UK report also mentions significant risks to the US reaching the end of the AUKUS agreement.

“The UK is not the only country facing challenges in reviving its ailing submarine industrial base. The US is also grappling with decades of underinvestment and a depleted workforce. Construction rates for the Virginia-class submarine have consistently failed to meet procurement targets: construction rates have remained at 1.2 boats per year since 2022, up from 2.33.”HE “The US Congressional Research Service has been warning for more than two years that the US would be required to meet US Navy and AUKUS requirements.”

For the ministerial wing of Australia’s Parliament House, this is yet another report to ignore as the Government sends billions more to both the US and UK to repair its shipyards.
