Watch: King Charles praises US and UK’s ‘greatest alliance’ in historic Congress address

King III. Watch Charles deliver his historic speech to Congress on Tuesday (April 28) to praise the US and UK’s relationship amid global uncertainty as he and the Queen continue state visits.

His Majesty used his historic speech to highlight the importance of the US-UK alliance, as well as NATO, to the joint session.

“From the depths of the Atlantic to the cataclysmic melting ice caps of the Arctic, the commitment and expertise of the U.S. Armed Forces and their allies are at the heart of NATO, committed to defending each other, protecting our citizens and interests, and protecting North Americans and Europeans from our common enemies,” Charles said to thunderous applause.

Charles’s speeches to both Houses are likely to be seen as an acknowledgment of tensions between Donald Trump and Sir Keir Starmer, who clash over the US leader’s war on Iran.

This marks the second time a British monarch has addressed a joint meeting of Congress; The first was in 1991 with the late Queen Elizabeth II. It was Elizabeth.

Earlier on Tuesday, Charles and Camilla received a ceremonial welcome at the White House.

In his speech on the South Lawn, Trump told the King that his mother had fallen in love with him as young Prince Charles.
