Jeanine Pirro, the US attorney in Washington, shared the video on social media on Thursday, April 30. In the nearly six-minute clip, alleged gunman Cole Tomas Allen is seen walking back and forth down the hallway at the press dinner the day before the attack.

Security checkpoint footage shows federal officers dismantling magnetometers on the day of the incident. The alleged gunman burst through a doorway and began running towards them. The gunman quickly approaches the officers before the majority notice his presence.

Only one officer seen in the footage appears to have his gun drawn before the gunman passes; Pirro confirmed that he was the officer shot and returned fire.

Prosecutors had previously said the agent hit a bulletproof vest during the struggle, but did not confirm that Allen was the shooter. Pirro said there was no evidence the officer was hit by friendly fire.

Allen, 31, of California, was injured but not shot during the incident at the Washington Hilton; This incident threw the event, which was packed with journalists and administrative officials, including senior leaders, into chaos.

Allen agreed to remain in custody early Thursday while awaiting trial. He did not enter a plea during his brief appearance in federal court.

Court documents reveal that Allen was photographed in his hotel room with an ammunition bag, a shoulder gun holster and a sheathed knife just minutes before the incident.

Allen reportedly described himself as a “Friendly Federal Assassin” and cited a number of complaints about various policies of the Trump administration.

He was indicted Monday on two firearms-related charges, including attempting to assassinate the president and using a weapon during a crime of violence.

He faces life imprisonment if convicted of the assassination charge alone.
