Ex-Columbia professor calls for ‘Death to America’ at Virginia Tech

Video clips published on X show a former Columbia University professor banned from teaching after expressing support for terrorist groups calling for the “destruction” of the United States and urging students to disrupt the American defense industry.
In the clips, Mohamed Abdou, whose “Death to the Academy” tour ends this week in Blacksburg, Virginia, tells an audience of students that they are part of a “racial religious war” and calls the United States a “monster.”
The clips show Abdou being upfront about the meaning behind his tour’s title.
“When we say Death to America, we mean loud and clear the complete end of the US empire,” Abdou told attendees. “The destruction of this crusader colony is their entire project.”

Abdou, who was banned from teaching at Columbia last year after expressing support for Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad, describes the October 7 attacks as the “Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque Flood”. He describes the student activists in the room as “an arm of the resistance” and “a branch of the mujahideen.”
While the speech criticizes the “weapons industry”, Abdou appears to urge students to disrupt “every single choke point” and “supply chain bottleneck”.
“Study what our Mujahideen are doing,” Abdou tells the students, adding that they should “start as soon as possible.”

The event appears to have occurred despite a statement from Virginia Tech earlier this week saying it was not university-sponsored or registered.
“The event in question is not sponsored by a university-affiliated organization or a university-registered event,” spokesman Mark Owczarski told Fox News Digital on Thursday. “Any claims to the contrary are simply untrue.”
Abdou’s words go beyond foreign policy; There are clips of him discussing Adolf Hitler and telling students to “understand what Hitler stood for” while claiming that the “modern Zionist entity” exhibits a “Hitler mentality”.

He also touched on the topic of “Death to Academia,” encouraging students to look “to the fringes” for answers rather than mainstream academic discourse.
Abdou was previously barred from Columbia University following a hearing before Congress, where former President Minouche Shafik testified that his file permanently stated that he was ineligible to re-employ at the institution.
