Tripura BJP celebrates win in Assembly bye-election

The ruling BJP in Tripura on Monday celebrated the party’s victory in West Bengal and Assam as well as a convincing victory in the by-election in Dharmanagar assembly constituency in north Tripura. Prime Minister Dr. Manik Saha, his ministerial colleagues and party leaders joined the victory procession in Agartala.
The saffron party retained the Dharmanagar seat with its candidate Jahar Chakraborti defeating the trailing candidate Amitabha Datta of the CPI(M) by over 18,000 votes. In the multi-corner contest, Chakraborti received 24,009 votes.
