‘Unimaginable’: Tributes roll in for new mum after shock sudden death from brain bleed
A Sydney mother who died of a sudden brain haemorrhage five months after giving birth to her daughter has been remembered as “ambitious and full of life”.
Management consultant Kali Blundell, 32, of Allambie Heights, was at the gym when she suffered a brain aneurysm in mid-April.
She died in hospital a week later, leaving behind her husband Brandon, whom she had been with since she was 15, and baby Ruby.
But he heroically donated his organs to help five other people.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help his family, including covering funeral and medical expenses.
His friend Sarah Porter said the money raised would help Brandon begin “navigating this world without a soulmate.”
Ms. Porter said Ms. Blundell was “one of the first people to say yes to spontaneity, to embrace the world with open arms and to travel around the world to take it all in.”
“Kali was incredibly smart and someone you could turn to for advice,” he said.
“He worked incredibly hard and never shied away from a challenge.
“Although she worked hard, she also played hard and brought so much joy to the world with her dance moves, love of music, and cheeky personality.”
Ms Porter said her friend’s death came as a shock and left the world “a little less bright”.
“His loss has left an unimaginable hole in the hearts of everyone who loved him,” he said.
“Brandon and Ruby need to spend many more years with Kali, and now they face an incredibly heartbreaking new reality without her.”
