Mysterious disappearance of man on popular WA hiking track sparks police search | Western Australia

Three months after a hiker was last seen on a popular hiking trail, police are becoming increasingly concerned about the missing man’s well-being.
Police searched dense bushland to find a Victorian man who went missing on a popular walking trail on the other side of the country.
Samuel Whitsed, 27, is believed to have traveled to Western Australia from Victoria to walk along the Bibbulmun Track on the outskirts of Perth. He was last seen on Feb. 18, carrying camping gear, heading towards the airstrip on the Brookton Highway near the Albany Expressway.
Over the past three months, police became increasingly concerned about Whitsed’s health and asked for the public’s help.
Footage released on Saturday showed officers, rangers and volunteers trekking through dense vegetation and rugged terrain in the hope of finding the missing man.
Between 28 April and 7 May they examined the area surrounding Canning Hut and Brookton Campground following the discovery of a tent believed to belong to Whitsed, but no further observations were made.
Anyone who has seen Whitsed or has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact WA police.
He was last seen wearing a red T-shirt or light-colored sweater, black pants and slippers.
Whitsed is described as being approximately 170 to 180 cm tall, of slim to medium build, with short brown hair and a beard and moustache.
