Telangana CM seeks PMO special task force for speedy clearances of States’ projects

Emphasizing the need for speedy approval of projects forwarded by the Telangana government, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to set up a special task force in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for this purpose.
“We request you (Prime Minister) to set up a special task force in the form of a single window mechanism to resolve the projects put forward by states,” he said. Six major cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad) act as growth engines for the country’s economy and these cities must be developed comprehensively to ensure that the country ranks high in employment generation as well as development parameters.
Telangana’s projects are awaiting permission
“The pace of announcements does not match the requirements. Many projects, including Hyderabad Metro Rail (Phase II A and B), rejuvenation of Musi, Bharat Future City, private expressway between Machilipatnam and Future City, are awaiting clearances,” he said.
Reminding that the wait continues after meetings with the relevant Union Ministers and visits to the Centre, the Prime Minister requested the Prime Minister to allocate a few hours for examining the projects and obtaining expedited permissions. Mr. Reddy was addressing a meeting held in connection with the Prime Minister’s inauguration/groundbreaking ceremony of various projects here on Sunday (May 10).
Mr. Reddy termed the event as a festival of development and not just a program of the Central government and hoped that the Chief Minister would focus on development work while elections in five States are being completed. Stating that the security and all-round development of the country is of great importance, Reddy said that he was reluctant to talk politics at this development-oriented event.
He asserted that the state would continue to seek assistance from the Center in achieving rapid development goals and recalled how the government had come up with Telangana Emerging Vision 2047 in line with Viksit Bharat 2047 released by the Centre. “The Center has set a target of achieving a USD 30 trillion economy by 2047. The Telangana government is also committed to contributing at least 10%, i.e. USD 3 trillion,” he said.
Mr. Reddy recalled how Mr. Modi, with the help of then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, had developed Gujarat as a role model for the country during his 10-year tenure and asked the current government to provide equal assistance to Telangana. “We aim to make Telangana a US$ 1 trillion economy by 2034 and pave the way for a US$ 3 trillion economy by 2047,” he said.
The government needed certain permits and permits to achieve its cherished goals. “We will fulfill the promise of contributing 10% (US $3 trillion) to the economy by 2047. We need your (the Prime Minister’s) help in this direction,” he said adding the State with less than 3% population of the country was already contributing 5% of the GDP and was firm on further enhancing this.
