Communist Party of India (CPI) Andhra Pradesh State Secretary Eswaraiah on Sunday, May 10, 2026, demanded the immediate resignation of Union Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar from both the ministerial post and the Lok Sabha membership following the registration of POCSO case against his son in Telangana.
In his statement, Mr. Eswaraiah claimed that a case has been registered at Basheerabad Police Station in Telangana against Union Minister’s son Bandi Sai Bhageerath under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act for allegedly molesting a 17-year-old girl.
He also alleged that the BJP leadership’s silence on the issue reflects political hypocrisy and an attempt to protect the accused.
Expressing concern that a fair investigation could be hampered if Mr Kumar continues in office, Mr Eswaraiah said there was a possibility of him influencing the investigation or tampering with evidence by misusing power. He claimed that the resignation was necessary to ensure justice for the victim.
The CPI leader made three key demands to the government: immediate resignation of Mr. Kumar to facilitate a transparent investigation, utmost police protection for the victim and his family, and a time-bound, impartial investigation free from political pressure or influence.
He also called on the government to take stringent measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and prove that the law applies equally to everyone.
