GB News issues breaking news alert – it’s a major blow for Starmer | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

UK News presenter Tom Harwood this afternoon at Downing Street No. While standing in front of 10, he paused today’s episode of the show to give a breaking warning. He told viewers what was needed for a formal leadership challenge against Sir Keir Starmer following heavy losses for Labor in Thursday’s local elections. Harwood began: “It feels like the sands are shifting here in Westminster and, crucially, the number we should all have in mind is 81. 81 is the threshold at which any MP can challenge Sir Keir Starmer. “It’s interesting to look at what Catherine West was doing now because she was actually organizing a petition for Labor MPs to force the Prime Minister to resign.

“But this is a petition that carries with it a threat. If this petition reaches 81 votes, West has previously said he would run for the leadership. If the Prime Minister sees this petition and refuses to stand down, as he indicated in his speech earlier today, could Catherine West back this up with a challenge to force a contest, which is a likely outcome?”

“There is one very important fly in the ointment, and it’s a statement made by West himself, speaking to London’s political playbook this afternoon. In his letter to all the MPs who started this petition, West said he wanted a contest to be held in September. Well, this afternoon he announced that he planned to write by September.”

The GB News reporter said the change in wording “will show a much greater preference for Wes Streeting” over Andy Burnham.

He added: “Once 81 is reached, there is a credible threat that a leadership contest could be launched.”

Earlier today, Starmer vowed to prove his “skeptics” wrong in his speech, saying: “Like every government, we’ve made mistakes… but we’ve made the big political choices right.”

User X flocked to the platform to comment on the UK News warning, with one person writing: “We need a general election.” Another said: “No matter who replaces Starmer, Labor is a Toxic Brand.”

A third wrote: “Regardless of whether Starmer changes or not, Labor looks like an absolute mess at the moment; Britain needs a government that can actually get things done.”
