Congress Slams Census For Ignoring BCs

Hyderabad: BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar objected to the lack of BC option in the ongoing Census. He alleged that there were loopholes in the numbering exercise, which had options for SC and ST communities only.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, the minister demanded the state BJP to respond to the Centre’s discrimination against Telangana. He stated that BJP leaders have constantly expressed their desire to capture power in the state, but instead they should explain what the Center has done for the state in the last 12 years. He challenged the BJP leaders to a public discussion on the funds Telangana received from the Center during the Modi rule.
Meanwhile, government advisor V. Hanumantha Rao accused the Center of lacking sincerity towards the BC community. Alleging that the current administration is neglecting the society, he urged Jana Sena chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to influence the BJP leadership for a nationwide BC census.
Rao also stated that Modi lacks the sincerity that Revanth Reddy had towards BCs. “Modi is cheating the BC society and doing injustice to 600 million people. We cannot ensure justice unless BCs are censused. If there is no provision for BCs, they should not participate in the census,” he added.
