Man charged with arson over alleged attack on ex-synagogue in east London | UK news

A 45-year-old man has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life following reports of a fire at a former synagogue in east London.
Moses Edwards, of Wanstead, will appear at Westminster magistrates’ court on Tuesday following the alleged arson attack on the building in Nelson Street, Whitechapel, on May 5.
Police said shortly after 5 a.m. there was minor damage to the building’s doors and the lock at the front, and no one was injured.
The building is in the process of being sold to a Muslim organization that plans to convert it into a mosque and community center.
The incident was one of a series of separate arson attacks allegedly against Jewish settlements in London over the past two months.
The 52-year-old woman, who was arrested within the scope of the investigation, was also released on bail in August.
