Senior Labour MP urges UK to recognise Palestinian state ahead of UN conference | Emily Thornberry

A senior workers’ deputy, some Western countries, this month at an international conference should put pressure on their own recognition plans, it is time for Britain to recognize a Palestinian state, he said.
Emily Thornberry, who presided on the Effective Commons of Foreign Election Committee, said that Israel’s Gaza War, which has killed more than 58,000 Palestinians since October 7, 2023, will continue.
“The only way in this regard is that a recognized Palestinian state is a safe and safe Israeli state,” Thornberry said on Monday to the Today’s Today’s Program, BBC.
The British Foreign Ministry is under pressure to recognize a Palestinian state from Thornberry and about 60 workers’ deputies.
Calls from the Labor Party Backhencher, French President Emmanuel Macron’s British parliamentarians this month, a two -state solution this month is the only way to build peace and stability in the region, he said.
Later in this month, France and Saudi Arabia are chaired by an international conference, in which he plans to announce that he knew Palestine in the UN in New York. Tornberry said that the recognition alone will not solve the conflict, but the problem can gain political acceleration.
“More than 100 years ago, we are the two parties of this former treaty, the secret Sykes-Picot agreement that carved the Middle East in the first place. I think there is some kind of political importance for these two countries to come together again.”
When asked about the position of the workers’ government, Thornberry said Kier Starmer believed that he wanted to know a Palestinian state. “This is just when it is,” he said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who was approached for the comment, said that the official position to get to know Palestine will come in the event of a maximum impact without explaining what or when it was.
“If we know a Palestinian state, I think we show that there is a country that wants to be an honest broker, wants to be a good power, and we always thought that a road is two states and we always thought about it.”
“Too many people have been killed, there must be peace. Peace can only be achieved through political speech and negotiations, Thorn Thornberry said. “We cannot allow the status quo to continue.”
Thornberry also said that the British government should clearly state that the Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal and that sanctions should be made to the relevant persons.

The calls for the recognition of a Palestinian state within the United Kingdom government come after a 30 -country conference in Colombia, which aimed to end Israel’s Palestinian occupation last week. The Hague Group, which was established this year, was brought together by South Africa and Colombia, but grew up to include Brazil, Indonesia, Spain and Qatar.
Thornberry also said that Britain should work with the US to put more pressure on the Israeli government and find an internationally accepted long -term solution.
Israel and the United States opposes the recognition of a Palestinian state and advises UN delegations not to attend the UN conference in New York, which was postponed as a result of the Israeli-Iran War. Israel said that the recognition will be seen as a reward for Hamas terrorism.
Thornberry said: ık We have a good power when it comes to Ukraine, but I think we should say to President Trump: ‘We need you, you have the power of 100 presidents, you can do all other presidents can not do.’
“But the Israelis have to come to the ship and they just can’t continue to say no, and there’s no reliable alternative.”
