Alleged Illegal Structures Torn Down At AIMIM Leader’s Properties In TCS Case Probe

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation on Wednesday demolished the alleged illegal constructions at the residence and other properties of AIMIM corporator Matin Patel, which was booked to house Nashik TCS accused Nida Khan, officials said.

Khan was arrested in central Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on May 7, with police claiming that All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Patel had provided him shelter.

On May 9, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation issued a notice to Patel regarding allegations of illegal construction in the city’s Naregaon area and sought an explanation from him within 72 hours. The statement said that if no response is received from Patel, the company has the authority to decide the fate of the property.

Patel then appealed to the court to postpone the case, but this decision was not accepted.

Mayor Sameer Rajurkar told PTI that on Wednesday morning, civic body personnel demolished illegal constructions under police security at Patel’s house, office and some shops.

Earlier on Tuesday night, former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel met Patel’s family in Naregaon and criticized the civic body’s “rush”.

Addressing his supporters after the meeting, Jaleel said, “We asked the court for a week, but the municipality is in a hurry to demolish the construction. This is a very important time for all of us, but after the demolition, we will build a house for Matin and his family that the country will see.” he said.

Mayor Rajurkar said on Monday that the process of canceling Patel’s company will be carried out after verification of documents related to his property.

“If Patel is involved in illegalities, his membership in the civic body should be cancelled. A case has been initiated under the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, which clearly states that no information should be withheld when filling the nomination form for civic elections,” he said.

Nida Khan has been accused in a case related to alleged conversion and sexual harassment against some of her female colleagues in TCS’s Nashik unit.

Patel was named as a defendant in the lawsuit filed alleging that he provided asylum to Khan.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Nashik police is probing nine cases of harassment and harassment of the IT professional in its Nashik unit.

TCS has stated that it has long adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of harassment and pressure and employees who were allegedly involved in sexual harassment at its Nashik office have been suspended.
