A long-established Scottish clothing manufacturer has gone into liquidation after more than 40 years of trading, leading to the loss of all remaining jobs. North East Rig Out (Aberdeen) Limited produced workwear, school uniforms and specialist protective clothing for customers in a wide range of industries including oil and gas, engineering, construction, transport and retail. The company was headquartered in Aberdeen and has now ceased operations, leading to the layoff of eight employees.
Insolvency company MHA was appointed as liquidator following the decision to voluntarily wind up the business. Formal liquidation papers filed under the Insolvency Act 1986 confirmed that a meeting held on 15 April decided that the company could no longer continue trading due to its liabilities.

According to the liquidator, the collapse was linked to long-term difficulties facing Scotland’s energy sector, which has put persistent financial pressure on companies operating in the North East.
As reported by herald, Michael Reid, MHA, who was appointed liquidator, said: “This is a difficult situation for everyone involved.
“The company has faced continued pressure as a result of the prolonged downturn in the energy sector, which has affected many businesses in the North East.
“Unfortunately, eight people were laid off. The business assets were auctioned and the properties were returned to the landlord.”
The company, also known as NERO, described itself as “the only direct workwear manufacturer in the Aberdeen area. With over 40 years’ experience in creating workwear, our clothing is truly second to none.”
The business specializes in the production of both standard and ‘bespoke’ clothing, including bespoke PPE and coveralls designed for industrial customers.
She added on her website: “Whether you need one of our ‘ready-made’ garments, a ‘bespoke’ jumpsuit or garment, or a bespoke garment, our designers and production team offer a truly unparalleled service.
“North East Rig Out manufactures and distributes a comprehensive range of workwear products focused on design, functionality, durability and comfort.”
The company also provided embroidery, heat seal branding and laser logo services to corporate clients, schools and sports clubs.
Its products have served industries such as oil and gas, construction, automotive, aerospace, marine, military and public sector organizations.
