UK Weather: Spring warmth set to return with 26C next week

Temperatures across the UK are 4-7 degrees below average this week, with winds blowing from the north.

Showers, thunderstorms and hail also led to some questioning about what happened to spring.

Thunderstorms and hail are actually pretty common features of the weather this time of year, as the extra daylight and warmth help increase the number of showers that bring hail.

With the wind turning more westerly over the weekend, the weather will begin to warm up, although the weather will continue to be quite mixed.

After a bright start to Saturday, clouds are increasing from the west and there is light rain across Northern Ireland and western parts of England and Wales.

Temperatures will rise to 12-16 degrees on Sunday. This would be close to the average for that time of year. The weather will start to feel warmer than this week, with lighter winds.

Showers will be mostly confined to northern and western parts of England, with sunny spells elsewhere.
