Democrats accuse Trump of stock trade corruption

Washington, May 16, 2026 – Democrats accused US President Donald Trump of corruption following the disclosure of major stock market transactions in his name on Friday, but his son has denied any wrongdoing.

Senator Elizabeth Warren wrote to X: “The President’s corruption is a national security disaster.”

Warren talked about buying shares of Nvidia, the maker of advanced chips used by artificial intelligence companies.

Trump allowed the company to sell products to China, leading to a temporary increase in stock prices.

Warren also wrote: “Trump brought NVIDIA CEO on his trip to China to lobby Chinese President Xi Jinping to buy advanced AI chips even though this poses a threat to US national security.” “It was revealed that Trump also purchased millions of shares of NVIDIA.”


His brother, Donald Trump Jr., runs the family business. The president’s eldest son, Eric Trump, who co-rules with Trump, has denied any wrongdoing.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was also part of the trip.

Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker called Trump “the most corrupt president in American history” in a post on X.

Since returning to power, Trump has handed over management of the family business to his sons, with looser ethical restrictions than during his first term.

He had previously imposed a moratorium on foreign investments that his family could not renew.

The Trump Organization recently announced the construction of a hotel complex in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The president himself blurs boundaries by hosting diplomatic events at his private residences, for example.

The documents released on Thursday include detailed transactions involving Donald Trump’s total value of more than $200 million and corporate names such as Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and Boeing.

Financial publication Forbes estimated the president’s personal wealth at $6.5 billion in March 2026; this was an increase of $1.4 billion in one year.
