UK weather maps show 30 counties missing out on 29C heatwave – full list | Weather | News

Weather maps show which counties will be affected by heatwave-like temperatures this month and which will be spared. What defines a heatwave depends on where you live in the UK. The Met Office says that if you live in Greater London, for example, temperatures must exceed 28 degrees to be considered a heatwave. But for most of the country, the threshold is only 25 degrees. The heatwave threshold in counties such as Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk in the South and East of England is 27C.
Updated weather maps from UK-based forecast service WXCharts show scorching temperatures across much of the country on Thursday, May 28. The hottest areas will be London and surrounding counties, with temperatures reaching up to 29C. However, temperatures above 25C will also be present elsewhere, with more counties in England experiencing temperatures above their thresholds. The highest temperatures will be seen in England and Wales, while Scotland and Northern Ireland will remain relatively cool.
The districts that will be spared from the heat are as follows:
- Bridgend
- North Port Talbot
- swansea
- Carmarhtenshire
- pembrokeshire
- Ceredigion
- Gwynedd
- Anglesey
- conway
Weather maps show temperatures peaked on Thursday afternoon, May 28. Tuesday, May 26, is also expected to be hot across much of the country, but conditions will get even warmer later in the week.
Next weekend could be just as hot as the next for many parts of the country. The change in conditions follows a cold and wet spell in the UK this May; Temperatures dropped as people prepared for summer.
“From time to time, there may be scattered rain in the far north and a few showers in the far south. Temperatures are expected to be above normal and very hot with light winds from time to time.”
Similar conditions are currently expected to occur at the beginning of June, but more rainy and mixed weather may occur in the middle of the month.
