The anti-Semitic activist who verbally abused Dame Helen Mirren on the street has been named. North Londoner Tom Carroll, who has a history of posting offensive content online, is understood to have confronted the national treasure while in London with husband Taylor Hackford, calling her an “evil Zionist bitch”.

The moments were captured in a video shared on the ‘Anti-Fascist Action UK’ Instagram account, which reposted the clip from November 2025 on Wednesday, confirming that the person running the account had filmed the video. Daily Mail Instagram was determined to be linked to a YouTube and PayPal account operated by Carroll, who was also tagged in posts linked to the account.

The video shows Dame Helen approaching the stranger and asking him if he was okay. However, the filmmaker verbally attacked the actor.

He said: “And then there’s Helen Mirren, who is an avowed Zionist. You said Israel should exist forever because of the Holocaust. And she was so happy Palestinians’ homes were destroyed. You’re a bad Zionist bitch. And you [Mr Hackford] And fuck you too.”

When the situation turned hostile, Mr Hackford repeatedly told the man to “go away” and asked him to leave them alone. Dame Helen has long been outspoken in her support for Israel.

Anti-Semitic conspiracy theories claiming the attack on Bondi Beach was “false flag” or “staged” were reportedly posted on Instagram. 50-year-old Sajid Akram and his son Naveed Akram shot and killed 15 people during a Hanukkah celebration.

The account also reposted memes that said: “It’s okay to be anti-Semitic.”

Carroll was wanted in connection with the attack on an 84-year-old woman at Shoreditch station in 2018. Five years later he handed himself in to the police and the Crown Court accepted his not guilty plea to the assault charge, but he was sentenced to 12 months’ community order and 200 hours’ unpaid work for the public order offense involving threatening behaviour.
