As Mooloolaba evolves as a destination, so do the ways to spend time here, whether it’s a family holiday or a romantic getaway.
If you’ve visited before, you may not recognize Mooloolaba next time; A major reconstruction is being carried out to create parking areas between the promenade and the beach and a walking path along the entire coastline. There are already new playgrounds and barbecue areas, and this year there are more areas to relax by the sand.

Hop on a boat and head out into the ocean to dive among coral reefs and a sunken warship, or snorkel with turtles around Mudjimba Island. There are regular whale watching trips during migration season (above; photo by Mark Fitz) and even the option to swim with humpback whales!

As he wanders along Mooloolaba’s canals, Simon Thornalley shares the area’s Indigenous heritage through animals and landscapes. On the Bushtucker Cruise, you’ll sample canapés made with local ingredients like bunya nuts and black pepper, all aboard a restored 1920s yacht.

More than just a hammam, saunas and steam rooms are combined with a gourmet restaurant and cocktail bar, giving the venue an almost trendy day club feel. You can just come for a soak or a massage, but there can be a bit of a party atmosphere on the weekends.

The two trawlers docked at the marina at The Wharf no longer fish for seafood, but they do provide services. Sitting on the decks of wooden boats, you can order platters of wild-caught Australian seafood, including crayfish, insects and, of course, plenty of prawns.
