Grave fears for person pulled from Broadbeach fire, second house fire burns in Clontarf
A man is feared dead after firefighters pulled him from a smoke-filled unit complex on the Gold Coast; Another large fire broke out north of Brisbane.
Firefighters were called to the Neptune resort on Surf Parade in Broadbeach at around 11am on Saturday morning and removed a person from a third-floor unit.
The other three people were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition. One person refused transportation.
A Queensland Fire Brigade spokesman said four crews were called to the fire and found the entire third floor covered in smoke.
It was stated that the fire was extinguished at 11.45.
Several houses on Weaber Street in Clontarf, north of Brisbane, were engulfed in flames and 12 fire engines were at the scene as of 3pm.
Emergency services were called around 13.45. There have been reports of injuries at the scene so far.
Police declared an exclusion zone around the fire for public safety at 2.10pm, urging people to stay inside with windows closed.
The area included Watson Street, Isobel Street, Enoch Street, Gerald Street, Wendy Crescent, Bright Street and Cornelius Street.
