Marks & Spencer tipped to conquer inflation storm

M&S backed to enter a race inflation ‘the storm’ – Currys and Wickes are ready for the challenge, according to Deutsche Bank.

Analysts said demand for luxury foods and trendy clothing would help as shoppers face rising costs.

They also warned that there were ‘downside risks’ affecting parts of the sector in terms of low-income consumers and big spenders.

Deutsche cut B&M and Wickes to ‘sell’ and Currys and Dunelm to ‘hold’, but backed M&S due to its size in the sector, Pets at Home, which is backed by its veterinary business, and Tesco.
