Pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by out-of-control car in North Beach
A man in his 60s was seriously injured when he was struck by an out-of-control car while walking along a footpath in North Beach on Saturday morning.
The incident happened on West Coast Drive near Malcolm Street just after 11am, with police alleging two vehicles crashed before one went onto the footpath and hit the pedestrian.
They said the crash started when a white Ford Ranger lost control and crashed into a blue Holden Frontera station wagon.
The station wagon then hit the trail and struck the man, pushing him over the limestone retaining wall and into the bushes.
The driver of the Holden was not injured but the collision caused “significant damage” to the wall and lamppost, causing power to be cut in the area.
The seriously injured pedestrian was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the Ford, a man in his 40s, is currently assisting police with inquiries.
Police said they were seeking any witnesses to the incident, as well as CCTV or dashcam footage, particularly of anyone traveling in the area at the time.
