Tension grips Manipur’s Konsakhul after villager injured in alleged ambush

Guwahati: There was high tension in Manipur’s Konsakhul district on Sunday after a villager was seriously injured in an alleged ambush by armed cadres of Kuki National Front (P) (KNF(P)) and people from Leilon Vaiphei village.

According to Konsakhul Village Headman’s Office, one person was injured and another was reported missing after the incident.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Village Administration claimed that the attack occurred around 10:30 am after the water supply line serving Konsakhul Naga Village was deliberately cut, disrupting the vital public service that residents rely on for their daily needs. The statement said, “When the residents of the dormitory started to repair the interrupted water supply, our villagers were brutally ambushed without any provocation.”
Konsakhul Village Administration said this has created an atmosphere of fear, distrust and distress among the village residents. “The attack on innocent civilians on Sunday, the holy day of prayer and prayer for Christians, is not only deplorable, but also a serious violation of human rights and Christian principles,” the statement said.
