Residential structure belonging to drug peddler demolished in Srinagar

An illegally constructed three-storey residential building belonging to a drug dealer was demolished in Srinagar on Thursday, June 4, 2026, police said.

Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Revenue Department, demolished the structure belonging to drug dealer Sheikh Tasaduq at Mumkhan Mohalla in Rainawari, a police spokesperson said.

The value of the residential structure is ₹2 crore, the spokesperson said.

He said the action was part of the police’s ongoing crackdown against drug smuggling and narcotics-related crimes under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan.

The accused was involved in multiple NDPS cases registered in Awantipora and Budgam, the spokesperson said.

He said Tasaduq’s wife Sheikh Maroofa was also involved in an NDPS case registered in Pulwama.

The spokesman said that during a thorough investigation and verification of the assets owned and held by the accused, it was found that the three-storey concrete structure was erected on encroached state land and was allegedly built with proceeds from illegal drug trafficking.

He added that the action also resulted in the recovery of valuable state land worth millions of rupees from illegal occupation.

The investigation also found that the property constituted illegally acquired assets and represented financial gains from illegal narcotics activities, as well as being an unauthorized encroachment on state land, the spokesman said.

The official added that after completion of all necessary legal formalities and in accordance with legal processes, the structure was demolished in the presence of revenue authorities.
