A 19-year-old woman died after gunshots were heard at a house in north London, police said. Metropolitan Police detectives have launched a murder investigation after a young woman died at an address in Finchley.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service called police to reports of gunshots at a house in Dale Grove, N12, in the early hours of Monday, June 8, at approximately 12.15am. It was learned that the woman lost her life despite all the intervention of the medical teams who came to the scene.

The Met said his relatives had been informed and were supported by specialist officers.

Police added that no arrests have been made yet. Detectives are working quickly to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with the young woman’s family at this incredibly difficult time as they come to terms with their loss.

“We understand the concern this incident will cause in the community. “Residents can expect an increased police presence over the coming days as our investigations continue and I would urge anyone with concerns to speak to officers.

“If you have any information that may assist our investigation, including any doorbell or dashcam footage from around midnight at or near Dale Grove, please contact police via 101 quoting reference 34/8JUN.

“You can also provide information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Police added that a formal identification and autopsy will be carried out in due course.
