Woman from Sudan Under Ebola Watch in Kottayam
The 52-year-old woman, who recently arrived from South Sudan, was kept under observation at Kottayam Medical College Hospital after doctors suspected a possible Ebola infection.
The woman first applied to a private hospital in Pala for fever treatment. After medical staff raised concerns, the Health Department intervened and transferred him to Kottayam Medical College Hospital for further evaluation.
He is currently being monitored in a special isolation ward and a special medical team has been assigned to oversee his care. Although he had a slight change in temperature, he did not exhibit other common symptoms typically associated with Ebola, hospital officials said.
The samples were sent to a laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram for testing. A medical board will be formed to decide on further treatment and management based on the findings.
