Man shot with nail gun suffers fractured skull as police investigate | World | News

A man has been left with horrific injuries after being shot with a nail gun during a horror robbery.

Shortly before 11pm on Saturday, June 20, 2026, police officers in New South Wales, Australia, were alerted to a report of an assault. Emergency services were dispatched to a property on Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth, to respond to the incident.

The number of people involved in the brutal attack remains unclear, but officers were informed that a group of men had stolen the victim’s money.

On arrival officers from Oxley Police District found a man in his 40s with nail gun injuries to his face, chest and hand. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was quickly transported by NSW Ambulance paramedics to Tamworth Hospital for emergency treatment.

It has since been confirmed that the man suffered a fractured skull, cuts to his head and puncture wounds as a result of the brutal attack.

New South Wales Police is appealing for information to assist with the ongoing investigation.

A statement published on their website said: “Police are appealing for information after a man was shot multiple times with a nail gun at a property in the state’s north-east at the weekend.

“Emergency services were called to reports of an assault at a house on Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth, shortly before 11pm on Saturday 20 June 2026.

“Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended and found a man in his 40s with nail gun injuries to his face, chest and hand. The man was taken to Tamworth Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics for treatment of a fractured skull, lacerations to his head and puncture wounds.

“The police were told that a group of people had stolen money from the man.

“Following extensive investigations, shortly before noon yesterday (Monday 22 June 2026), detectives executed a search warrant at a unit in Anne Street, South Tamworth, where they seized a nail gun and nail strips for electronic devices.

“Whilst police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, they are urging anyone with relevant information or CCTV/dashcam or mobile phone footage to contact Tamworth Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
