Amid the ongoing rebellion in the party, the Trinamool Congress, led by party president Mamata Banerjee, has sent a new list of office bearers and national working committee members to the Election Commission (EC). The party’s rebel faction, which appointed a new chairman on Monday, June 22, 2026, also submitted a list of office holders to the EC through the Chief Electoral Officer office in West Bengal.
In the list submitted by her loyalists, Ms. Banerjee remains the president of the All India Trinamool Congress, while Subrata Bakshi is the vice-president and Abhishek Banerjee is the national general secretary and leader of the party in the Lok Sabha.

The list includes Derek O’Brien (MP Rajya Sabha) and Dola Sen as joint secretaries and Subhasish Chakraborty as treasurer. The national working committee consists of Ms Banerjee, Mr Bakshi, Mr Banerjee, Mr O’Brien, Ms Sen and Mr Chakraborty.
Chandrima Bhattacharya was listed as West Bengal Trinamool Congress president and Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay as West Bengal Assembly Leader. The two are also members of the national working committee.
The development comes a day after the rebel group led by Ritabrata Banerjee held a special session in Kolkata and announced a parallel organizational structure. Former Minister Aroop Roy was appointed as the new president of the party and MLAs Sandipan Saha, Jawed Khan and Mr. Ritabrata Banerjee were declared as general secretaries.
On the same day Ms. Banerjee’s loyalists wrote to the EC, Opposition Leader Ritabrata Banerjee reached the office of the Chief Electoral Officer in West Bengal. He said it was necessary to report this to the EC after the party’s national working committee meets and elects the party chairman.

“When such incidents occur, the Election Commission needs to be informed. This was a routine process; we had already informed them in Delhi and today we have come here to do the same…” the LoP said. Meanwhile, sources close to Ms. Banerjee’s camp said the party had issued a show-cause notice to leaders of the rebel camp who appointed Ms. Banerjee and Mr. Abhishek Banerjee as office-bearers instead.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari also spoke about the rebellion in the Trinamool Congress and said that the party will never recover from division. “There are many parties that lose elections, but no one suffers such a fate (referring to the Trinamool Congress),” Mr. Adhikari said while speaking in the State Assembly.
After the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, which the Trinamool Congress lost to the Bharatiya Janata Party, a rebellion broke out among the party’s grassroots. On June 3, 58 MPs of the party supported Mr. Ritabrata Banerjee’s bid to become Leader of Opposition. According to LoP’s claims, the number of MLAs in its support has now increased to 65. Of the 80 Trinamool MPs who won the election, 14 support Ms Banerjee and one is behind bars.
20 of the party’s 28 Lok Sabha MPs have decided to part ways with Ms. Banerjee and form a separate group. They united with the little-known Nationalist Citizen Party of India (NCPI) and decided to support the BJP-led government at the Centre.
