J&K: ‘Operation Sheruwali’ enters 40th day as security forces intensify search operations in Rajouri

The aim of the operation is to capture terrorists believed to be hiding in the region. Security forces continue to actively participate in the counter-terrorism operation and maintain a strong presence in the forest terrain.
Search and surveillance operations continue in the determined areas with advanced equipment support and coordinated ground operations.

‘Operation Sheruwali’ is an ongoing, large-scale counter-terrorism sweep mission in the dense forest belts of Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan sector in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The multi-agency operation, launched in late May, aims to locate and neutralize armed spies hiding in the region’s rugged mountainous terrain.
As the operation continues, all participating forces are on duty, conducting comprehensive searches to ensure the safety and security of the area. Officials stated that the operation will continue until its goals are fully achieved.
The protracted operation underscores the resolve of the security forces to maintain peace and maintain security in the Rajouri border area. Earlier, a Petty Officer (JCO) and three Army personnel were injured in an accidental mine explosion during patrol near the Line of Control (LoC) in forward Kalal area of Nowshera sector on June 16, according to Jammu and Kashmir Police officials.

According to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Nowshera Police Station, the incident took place around 11 am when troops of 4 Kumaon were on a routine patrol duty in the forward LoC area. An accidental mine explosion occurred during the operation, injuring a JCO and three soldiers.
Officials added that the operation will continue until the area is completely cleared and all targets are achieved.
