The Union minister claimed that post-Operation Sindoor, “confidence in Indian-made defense platforms has increased”.

Operation Sindoor was India’s decisive military action in May 2025 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

Various defense platforms built in India had played an important role in this.
“Defence exports have also touched a record of over 38,000 billion rupees and in 2013-14 it was just 686 billion rupees and today it has increased 57 times. I have not sought the full report but my guess is that it should be around 40,000 billion rupees now,” Singh said. he said. In his speech, he also talked about India’s journey in various sectors in the last 12 years. years, the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and the importance of human sentience in the age of artificial intelligence, including the field of journalism.

The event was hosted in Delhi to celebrate 80 years of the national Hindi daily Navbharat Times.

“India’s journey in the last 12 years has been a progression from scarcity to self-reliance, from self-reliance to self-reliance and from self-reliance to building a Viksit Bharat,” Singh said.

He said India places emphasis on both technological development and celebrating its traditions, and that this combination of “tradition and technology” is “the country’s greatest strength in the 21st century”.

Underlining that AI has touched nearly all aspects of human existence today, he cautioned that while AI can read and analyze data, it “cannot feel the pulse” of the people, which is where the human sensitivity comes into picture.

Singh stated that journalism is also affected by technological developments such as artificial intelligence, but it cannot surpass human creativity and intelligence.

“The future success of journalism will depend on how well it establishes the balance and synergy between the capabilities of artificial intelligence and human empathy. While artificial intelligence will make journalism faster and more precise, emotional intelligence will ensure that journalism remains humane and reliable,” he said.

The Union minister also emphasized on maintaining credibility in journalism in the age of fake news and misinformation.
